When Darry and I shipped off to cooking school, things were so different. French/Nouvelle cuisine ruled and women in the kitchen were relegated to the pantry. Flash forward 25 years, so much has changed. The trends today are moving so fast that they are nearly impossible to keep up with. The culinary field has been glamorized and so many chefs are now celebrities. There are even cooking demonstrations held in large venues by big name tv chefs and you must buy overpriced tickets to attend them. Somehow, the food got lost along the way. Even with all of the overexposure on cable tv, there are a few great shows to watch. Some of the best shows are those that feature ordinary food (read that as traditional-regional cuisine). Whether it is in the U.S. or abroad, there are a lot of great places to visit and plenty of wonderful food to sample. With some of these shows as our inspiration, we have begun to seek out great food experiences and to chronicle those finds here on this page. So, sit back, relax and enjoy the ride...
